Interdependence between interoperability, patent protection and competition
On July 2004 the State Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment assigned Prof. Dr. (TU NN) Norbert Pohlmann and Prof. Dr. Jur. Andreas Müglich to prepare an expertise for the interdependence of interoperability, patent protection and competition
Within this task a survey was performed, which showed up an empiric public image and state of knowledge of companies in relation to patent protected software in Germany.
Enriched by numerous further researches in the area of software patents a final briefly expertise was created.
The survey is completed since the July the 29th, thanks to all participants!
The survey about the interdependence of interoperability, patent protection and competition had been performed in a time, where different interest groups reacted very emotional on the issue software patents.
Our intention was to achieve an appraisement from the different interest groups concerning the issue “interdependence of interoperability, patent protection and competition” and to use these results as solid arguments in the debate about the EU guideline.
We’ve made it!
Everybody is able to make his own statement about the value of this survey and to use the results of this survey in an appropriate way.
