We are becoming more and more a wired knowledge and information society, where the internet and its services play an important role. For this reasons we need to know exactly the build up and structure of the internet. In hand with the gaining importance of the internet, comes the growth of size and complexity.

The Internet is build up of an enormous number of mutual and independent networks, the so called Autonomous Systems. Our project “Structural analysis of the internet“ deals about the infrastructure of the internet. We analyze important indicators about the size and complexity of the internet. This means: Details about quantity and development of Autonomous Systems, information about connections between the systems and further information about the infrastructure. A conclusive analysis and presentation of the internet structure may have importance when planning infrastructure investments or reinvestments.
